Kingston Street Art Festival – Returns for its 2nd year
For the past six years, The Royal Borough of Street Art team has been actively working to inject life and colour into dull, unloved spaces around Kingston. The project was born during lockdown, when we noticed a shift in how people valued and used outdoor spaces.
Driven by a passion to support artists, shift perspectives and give back to the community, we've spent years identifying locations, securing permissions and making ideas happen.
In that time, we’ve welcomed over 100 artists to town and provided them with unique canvases to bring their work to life.
Last summer, we celebrated this journey by launching the first Kingston Street Art Festival. The event brought together over 45 artists from across the UK, who spent the weekend creating murals and live artwork throughout Kingston town centre. Thousands of residents and visitors enjoyed the opportunity to watch artists at work, meet the creators and experience public art being made in real time.
Following the success of our inaugural festival we're delighted to announce the return of the Kingston Street Art Festival on 22–23 August. This year's festival promises another exciting weekend of creativity, live painting, workshops and community engagement.
This festival has been funded by Kingston First community fund: www.kingstonfirst.co.uk/communty-fund
