Self taught, Irony's industrial scale street artworks still retain a softness, painting freehand with spray paints, like an oil painter with a brush. On canvas too, across many subjects, there is always an inherent quality at the core. A distillation of that intangible grimy energy that is uniquely London. Irony's recent works explore mixing classical portraiture with the grotty aesthetic of urban spaces. Bringing these neglected and unorthodox landscapes a decadence that romanticises them rather than hiding their ruin. From that moment, he became completely obsessed. Graffiti quickly evolved into his personal language and mode of self-expression, even leading to a few early brushes with the law. Determined to channel his passion into something constructive, he secured his first commissioned mural at the age of 11. From there, he continued to refine and experiment with his artistic style throughout college and university. This journey eventually paved the way for a successful career as a professional graffiti artist, with numerous solo exhibitions and high-profile commissions spanning cities from New York to Barcelona and beyond. Over the years, he has collaborated with major global brands including Amazon, Pepsi, Puma, and Tesla. His work has also earned critical recognition, with The Guardian recently naming him among the most notable street artists in the UK, alongside figures like Banksy. He is best known for his unique and dynamic graffiti style, characterised by intricate patterns, energetic linework, and vibrant colours. Portraiture lies at the heart of much of his work, yet he elevates it by blending elements of realism and surrealism. His portraits often feel alive—imbued with movement and emotion—as though the thoughts and feelings of the subjects are emerging from the canvas to tell a deeper story. There is a mysterious and cosmic quality to his art, evoking a sense of the otherworldly. Strong musical influences are also evident in the rhythmic, funky flow of his compositions —shapes, forms, and structures that pulse with energy.
